It has been suggested that Black Swan actress Natalie Portman is set to take a break from acting for a while, to take care of her new born son Aleph, who was born last month. This could be a wise move considering the quality of the movies she has been putting out lately.
Since winning her Oscar as the ballet dancing Nina Sayers in the movie Black Swan in 2010, Portman has since been involved in two poor movies. The first was the romantic comedy No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher, where she just strolled through without any real test of her acting ability. The second was the high profile flop Your Highness, which co starred James Franco.
If Natalie Portman was to continue making these less than average movies in the coming years, she could end up going the same way as Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. Cuba seems to be remembered more for the poor movies he’s made, since winning his Oscar for his role in Jerry Maguire, rather than for winning the Oscar itself. So it could be good for Natalie that she doesn’t seem to have any movies coming up and hopefully she can pick a more challenging role, which can return her to Oscar form.
