When it comes to having a successful Hollywood career every actor and actress needs to land that one big role which will give them their break and open up other doors, leading their career to new heights. For actor Max Greenfield that role was in the hit television series New Girl and it came just in time to save his acting career.
Max Greenfield has spent his acting career popping up in television shows and movies without ever really landing that big, important role that would change his career. With things going slow on the acting front, Max was considering giving up on his acting career before New Girl came knocking and cast him in the role of Schmidt.
Greenfield told The Wrap, "Right before New Girl happened, there were definitely moments of, 'I probably shouldn't do this anymore.' I just had a kid and at one point was like, 'At what point does this become selfish?' You don't want to become a dad who is running around and saying, 'I just got a callback on a guest star on (Tv comedy) The Middle.' I just didn't want to be that guy."
With that in mind, Max admitted that he was thinking about having a look at other areas of the entertainment industry and was even considering going into the writing side of things, starting out at the very bottom and trying to work his way up.
Greenfield added, "Just before New Girl, I called a buddy of mine and asked for a job as a writing assistant. Unfortunately I didn't go to college so I wasn't qualified for anything else. But (my friend) ran that show and I thought, maybe I'll start at the very lowest point for a writer and see what happens with that, because this doesn't seem to be happening as an actor."
Since being cast as Schmidt in New Girl, Max Greenfield has put in some impressive performances landing nominations for Golden Globe's and Emmy's along the way. New Girl is now in its third season on Fox and will continue to air on Tuesday evenings at 9/8c, with the next episode coming tonight (April 22).
