It looks like promotion for ‘The Host’ is starting to gear up in advance of its March 29th release date. The film is currently in the final stages of post production, and a second theatrical trailer is rumored to drop within the next month, but until then, there are three new stills and new posters to tide us over.

The three new stills feature Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder and Max Irons as Jared Howe, and all three seem to focus on the complex relationship that their characters have in the film. Ronan also had an interview with the Sunday World, and talked about playing the double role of Wanda/Melanie, saying, “I think playing two characters in the same film is inviting to any actor,” she explains. “For most of the film we hear Melanie’s voice because it’s the voice Wanderer hears in her head. Melanie has kind of a Southern accent.”

Andrew Niccol, the film’s director, also had an in-depth interview with The Hollywood Reporter recently about the film. When speaking about the most difficult scene to adapt, he said, “ I think that scene in the field, because it’s so difficult to create something on that scale. You literally have a wheat field in a cave, so just logistically, doing that was enormous. [The washroom is] literally a river in a cave. It was a major engineering feat. We had to pump gallons and gallons of water every minute to pour exactly. It was easy to put on the page to deliver a cave, but creating it — something else.
Niccol also speaks about a potential sequel to ‘The Host’, saying, “I’ll have to speak to Stephenie [Meyer] about that if she wants me back. It’s so secretive, I don’t even know what the next story is. It’s up in the air. Until there’s a second book, I can’t quite make a lead to a second film, but I would love to work with her again. It’s been such a fun collaboration.
