Singer Nicki Minaj has opened up about her time on the judging panel of American Idol, claiming that she is worried about how she will come across. Nicki admits that she is not the nicest person to the contestants, as she wants to help them develop a thick skin.

Minaj told Ryan Seacrest, “I'm scared. Maybe I shouldn't have been so like... It's hard for me to not say how I really feel. Everyone else is so nice. I was just thinking back about some things and I was like, 'I wonder if that was not so nice. I don't think I'm going to be able to watch it. I'm going to be so nervous. But I know people are going to love it. I think it's a great dynamic.”
She added, “As an artist I've always grown more from the tougher criticism and so I would like to be that person and to try to help people get that thick skin and to really give it their all, because it is a competition.”

There was a lot of talk a few weeks back, about a rift on the American Idol judging panel, between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. However, it appears that they have gotten over their differences, as Nicki claims that she would be up for collaborating with Mariah, “If she'll have me, I'll be there waiting,” she said.
The new season of American Idol is set to premiere on January 16.
