These days in Hollywood it is beginning to feel like there is a bit of an Australian takeover, as we seem to be getting more and more Australian stars making it big in the US every year, not that we are complaining, as they are all beautiful stars. Recently it was revealed how Indiana Evans had been cast in the new TV series Secret and Lies and now it has been announced that another former Neighbours star has landed a big role.
Actress Nicky Whelan, who played the role of Pepper in Neighbours for 81 episodes, has had some interesting roles in some television shows and movies but has now landed the lead role in the upcoming US drama Matador, which has already been confirmed for a 13 episode season. This is a very big move for Nicky's career and she is clearly very happy about it.
Whelan told the Daily Telegraph, "The process of auditioning is so gruelling so to get the lead in a TV series that is already picked up for 13 episodes and is all ready to go is like winning gold in the world of acting. I’m extremely grateful and I’m just excited to get an opportunity to play a different character to what I usually do."
Nicky Whelan has been in the US for about six years now and has had a steady rise to stardom, working with some big Hollywood names along the way. The beautiful actress recently finished filming her role in the movie Left Behind, which is expected to open this year and co-stars Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray and Jordin Sparks.
