Ghost Rider actor Nicolas Cage has revealed how he turned down the opportunity to star in two of the biggest movie franchises of all time. Nicolas was asked to appear in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as The Matrix trilogy but had to turn the offer down due to family reasons. Nicolas also stated that he would love to be involved in a sequel to his 2006 movie The Wicker Man.

Cage explained, "There were two movies that asked me to go to Australia or New Zealand for long periods of time. One was Lord of the Rings and one was The Matrix, but I was actively involved at that time raising my family and I couldn't really take that time out." He then discussed the possibility of a Wicker Man sequel, possibly taking place in Japan.
Nicolas added, "I would like to hook up with one of the great Japanese filmmakers, like the master that made Ringu, and take The Wicker Man to Japan, except this time he's a ghost." Nicolas Cage can next be seen on the big screen, when he appears in the movie Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which is set to be released on February 17.
