Fox has a hit on their hands with Sleepy Hollow. The broadcasting channel has shocked the world by renewing the show for a second season after airing only two episodes. TV Guide believes that leading star, Nicole Beharie, is the key to the fantasy drama's success.
Nicole Beharie plays Abbie Mills, a Sleepy Hollow deputy who has her world turned upside down when a Ichabod Crane wakes up from a 250 year nap. Mills is skeptic of her role in stopping the upcoming Apocalypse. TV Guide believes Nicole Beharie works as a protagonist, because she is portrayed as a capable cop, and she does a relatable job of making the sense out of the crazy world of Sleepy Hollow. Beharie is quickly breaking race and gender stereotypes. She is a strong character who can also be vulnerable and rational. Vulnerability is usually lost when people try to write a strong female character. Fortunately, the writers of Sleepy Hollow have find the right combination.
So what's next for Nicole Beharie's Abbie Mills? Today, Beharie tells E!Online that the last episode "Sin Eater" has Mills figuring out what Ichabod really means to her. The episode starts with Mills taking the time traveler to his first ever baseball game. Week by week she is slowly incorporating him into her personal life. The pair has a strong following, but there are no signs of a romantic future for the two.
The remaining episode of the freshmen hit will air this year Mondays on Fox at 8/7c. Season 2 will air in the fall of 2014.
