While The Paperboy may not be the most successful movie ever made, it is still a good piece of movie making and Nicole Kidman does a good job as Charlotte in the film. However, Nicole was not originally cast in the role but had to come in to replace Sofia Vergara who had to exit the project.

Sofia Vergara with Modern Family cast
The Paperboy director Lee Daniels explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “The money fell out, just like with most independent films, and we had to start over. I felt Nicole and I together would be explosive. I didn't even have to talk to her, we read each others' minds. We were like a couple making love except without the sex.”
Sofia Vergara was very interested in doing the movie and had signed up for the role, before she eventually had to pull out back in June 2011 because of her commitments to the show Modern Family. Fortunately, Nicole Kidman is a big fan of Lee Daniels and was delighted to be able to work with him again.

Nicole Kidman in The Paperboy
Nicole recently spoke about some of the more shocking scenes in The Paperboy, such as urinating on somebody, claiming that she did not have an issue with it. As well as Nicole Kidman, The Paperboy also stars Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey and John Cusack.
