Nicole LaPlaca is an actress that many of you may remember from the movie John Tucker Must Die and the talented actress is definitely a star on the rise. Nicole is an actress who can freely change with the times and characters, as her choice in favourite colour shows, “It changes, but green is currently the colour of the hour,” she explained. While we have been trying to guess the age of this young star, she was happy to let us know when her birthday is, “I’ll tell you my birthday, but I’ll keep you guessing on my age…. January 3rd!” she teased. Nicole was kind enough to take some time to talk to us at FansShare about her life as an actress so far.
FS: You previously appeared in the movie John Tucker Must Die. Did you see much of Jesse Metcalf or Penn Badgely?
NL: Yes I did! I worked on the movie on and off for about 2 months so we got to hang out quite a bit. Not a bad gig, hanging out with these two gentlemen.
FS: What were they like as people?
NL: They were both very cool, down to earth, very chilled people. Lots of fun with some good stories.
FS: Did they give you any advice that you have taken with you?
NL: They both had a really great work ethic. That’s always great to see. No matter how big you get, you have to attain your sense of work ethic and remember you’re there to do a job and do it well.
FS: Do you have any upcoming projects in the pipeline?
NL: There are a couple projects coming up which I’m actually sworn to secrecy. There’s one really big project in the works that will come to be in the early spring of 2013.
FS: What is your favourite role that you have played so far and why?
NL: My favourite role so far would have to be “Natalia” from Another Cinderella Story. It’s always so fun and exhilarating getting to play the enemy, someone so far the opposite of you. Working with Selena Gomez, Jane Lynch and Drew Seeley was unbelievable too. Some really great people.
FS: Do you have a dream role?
NL: My dream role would be the character “Deb” from the Showcase series Dexter. She’s so raw and unpredictable. Every episode would be so different to dive into from one week to the next.
FS: Who is the most talented actor or actress you have worked with?
NL: This is a really tough question! I’ve worked with Canadian Actor Shawn Doyle a couple of times on Endgame as well as Mount Pleasant. There’s something about him that is so organic. There’s always truth to him, no matter the role he’s playing. Also, working with Jane Lynch was an amazing experience. She is truly one of the most naturally funny people I’ve met. I learned a lot about comedy working with her.
FS: Who is the best director you have worked with?
NL: Again, a really tricky question! I really enjoyed working with Betty Thomas on John Tucker Must Die. She has such a dry sense of humor and I do too, so we got along well.
FS: Which actor or actress would you most like to work with?
NL: I’m a huge Leonardo DiCaprio fan, I’d do a movie with him any day. Kate Winslet is my favourite actress so I’d also love to work with her. Can you tell I’m a huge Titanic fan?
FS: Which director would you most like to work with?
NL: Martin Scorsese hands down!
FS: What jobs did you have before becoming an actress?
NL: I worked at a movie theatre, which was definitely not my favourite gig. Popcorn grease everywhere… I actually still work as a dance and acting teacher which I would love to do for the rest of my life!
FS: What would you be doing if you were not an actress?
NL: Hmmm. I used to always want to be a kindergarten teacher, so I guess I could see myself doing that.
FS: If the world was to end tomorrow, what would you do today?
NL: I would have a huge chill day with my family and friends. Eat a lot of junk food, watch movies, go through old pictures and memories.
Nicole LaPlaca was also kind enough to give some words of advice to anybody aspiring to become an actor or actress. She explained, “My main piece of advice would be that if you love the craft and love what you do, don’t give up no matter what. Work hard, take class and persevere. Rejection can be hard, but it happens to everyone. Get back up and work 10x’s harder to get where you want to be.” Remember the name, Nicole LaPlaca, as we tip her to become a big star in the future.
