Singer and X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has revealed how she was offered the chance to be in Black Eyed Peas, before the place eventually went to Fergie. Nicole says that she had to reject the offer, as she was contracted to Eden Crush at the time and Fergie was on hand to step in.
Nicole also revealed how she used to have a more gothic image in her younger days and was into a more rock based sound than the pop music she is currently known for. She even says that she was off touring with the likes of Foo Fighters, while also trying to study at college.
Scherzinger told Notion Magazine, "I was coming out of musical theatre and he was like 'do you know any Dead Can Dance?' I was like 'what?'. So he played it for me and that's when I was introduced to [Dead Can Dance singer] Lisa Gerrard. Lisa Gerrard did the soundtrack to Gladiator and she chants a lot."
She added, "I went in my car and just studied the sound he was looking for and then I went in the studio and they just played these chords and I immediately started chanting. So from then I'd have to drive back for three hours to college, do my school stuff and then drive back and record the album. We toured with Foo Fighters, we toured with the biggest bands out there."
Nicole Scherzinger eventually rose to stardom with Pussycat Dolls, before then enjoying a successful solo career and then going on to be a judge on The X Factor USA and now The X Factor UK.
