It was revealed earlier this month that Nike had decided to release 1500 pairs of Nike MAG sneakers, which were made famous by the hit 1989 movie Back to the Future Part 2. The sneakers have been auctioned off one pair at a time and went for a lot more than people imagined.
Sneaker site solecollector confirmed that the money raised from the Back to the Future shoe auction is going to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. After the ten days of auctions the Nike MAG sneakers managed to raise an incredible $5.6 million and that figure is set to be doubled.
Sergey Bin, Co-Founder of Google has claimed that he will match whatever figure the auction brings in. So the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is looking at a huge $11,390,381.10. Upon searching we found that one bidder managed to bag himself EIGHT pairs of the sneakers.
