Missy Franklin created a massive media storm when she became one of the youngest women to ever win four Olympic gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics. Although other Olympic medal winners have been capitalizing on their fame by starring on TV shows (Ryan Lochte in 90210, Gabby Douglas in Vampire Diaries), Franklin is also now set to appear in an episode of the hit ABC Family drama ‘Pretty Little Liars’.
It is being reported by the Hollywood Reporter that Franklin, who will be playing herself, will turn up at the Brew, where Rosewood High swim team member Emily (played by Shay Mitchell) works.
This is following another trend of all forms of entertainment slowly melding together – Jennifer Lopez appearing on American Idol, singers and actors constantly trying out both, and reality stars and models starting to receive film roles. However, it is pretty much a given that Franklin is universally adored and considered swimming’s golden girl, so it’s hats off to her that she will be starring on one of her favorite shows.
The Halloween special of Pretty Little Liars will reportedly air next Tuesday, and then the show will be off the air before returning for the second half of season 3 next year.
