This is the second time that One Direction has had a #1 album, made all the more impressive by the fact that both the albums were within one year. The British boyband’s second album, ‘Take Me Home’, was at the top of Billboard charts this week with 540,000 units sold.

This also makes the band’s album the third best total sales amount for a single week of the year, just behind Taylor Swift and Mumford and Sons.
1D member Niall Horan took to Twitter to show his appreciation after the news was announced, saying, "Thank you all soo much for ur support! Means soo much! We can't believe this is all happening to us, just normal guys from small places."

One Direction certainly has been dominating the charts recently – after gaining popularity with the X Factor, they have capitalized on their momentum and become a global phenomenon in just a few short years. The band, which consists of young boys from all over the UK, is also considered one of the biggest successes to come out of X Factor, with their closest competitor being ‘The Wanted’. Many are predicting 1D to be on the same level as Backstreet Boys and N’Sync, with some even going so far as to compare them to the Rolling Stones and the Beatles.
