2012 has been a huge year for British boyband One Direction but the boys were keen to show that they are not all about themselves and do have a charitable side. One Direction lent their support to the Alzheimer’s Society and have been praised by Louis Tomlinson’s girlfriend Eleanor Calder, whose granddad is suffering from dementia.

Calder explained, “I'm so pleased the boys have decided to support Alzheimer's Society in this way. My grandfather has dementia and my family and I have had firsthand experience of how the condition affects every aspect of a person's life.”
Chief executive of the Alzheimer's Society, Jenny Hughes added, “The boys' support will help us reach new audiences and raise awareness of dementia amongst younger people. Everyone has a role to play in improving the lives of people with dementia.”
