The NME Awards took place last night and it seems that One Direction do not fit the trend of your typical NME bands, as they won the category for the Worst Band. One Direction do not claim to be anything they are not and are just doing what they love to do but there is always somebody who is there to try and knock people down when they are on a high.
One Direction recently won the Brit Award for the Best British Single, which was voted for by the public, for their hit What Makes You Beautiful and they currently have a huge fanbase in both the UK and the US. The US has always been a difficult market to crack for UK acts but One Direction are currently making it look easy, as they attract the attention of screaming fans wherever they go.
However, the NME Awards have always been aimed at being negative towards pop acts and this year was no different. While One Direction won the Worst Band Award, Justin Bieber was also in for some stick, beating One Direction to win the Villain of the Year Award as well as winning Worst Album for Under The Mistletoe.
