Is One Direction being threatened by Union J? According to Louis Walsh, a judge on the UK X Factor, they should be.

Will Union J provide competition to One Direction?
Speaking on the Xtra Factor last week as the mentor of only one remaining group on the X Factor, Union J, Walsh said, “I think every boyband watches every other boyband coming up. I mean they came from this show and One Direction have had an amazing career, so they are probably watching the new kids Union J.”
It seems overtly antagonistic to keep comparing every boyband coming out of the X Factor to One Direction, mainly because the only band that has close to matching 1D’s success is the Wanted. One Direction is a global phenomenon, less for their X Factor connection than for being a group of immensely talented and good-looking boys who teenage girls are obsessed with. Walsh has commented on this before and it’s really coming off as him stirring up rivalry when there is none to speak up.

Louis Walsh is the mentor of Union J
Of course, he could be just trying to get press, especially considering that we’re down to the final few rounds in this X Factor season. We’ll have to wait at least a year to see if Walsh is right, or if Union J crashes and burns.
