Former England manager Fabio Capello has written off England's chances of getting anywhere in the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil. Capello who currently manages Russia (also in the World Cup) doesn't believe England have the quality or the fitness to achieve greatness in Brazil.
In the interview after the World Cup draw placed England in Group D alongside Uruguay, Costa Rica & Italy, Capello said that England's players are great in the winter saying that "It is always the same problem. Physically they are good in September, October, November" but that by the time the summer rolls around after a long season "May? No! So England players will not be at the top of their physical condition".
Capello believes that it is "It is always the same problem" - and he knows as a former England manager. He also believes that England's first game against Italy will be made even more of a struggle by the location - Manaus in the Amazon Rainforest, stating "Manaus will be really, really warm - another difficult thing". Capello's own Russian team have a much more favorable draw than England, facingAlgeria,Belgium & South Korea.
Capello's predictions are fairly similar to most pundits opinions on England's chances - most of whom agree that the odds were stacked against England even before this difficult group draw. Capello is probably better placed than most to make that judgement - being the former England manager.
