Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry have been friends for a very long time, so it makes sense that they would be partnering on Oprah's new network OWN. Both Oprah and Tyler cover the latest issue of Essence Magazine, and discuss their long friendship and business relationship.
Tyler first his friendship with Oprah, explaining, "The most important thing about coming together was making sure we would not lose our friendship because of the business. We have to established ground rules. The main one: Both of us have to continue to live in our truth. If she doesn't like something, say it. If I don't like something, I'll say it. And we'll figure it out and keep moving on."
Oprah also discusses their business relationship, saying, "We both know how rare this is. Where else in the history of our African-American culture have two really, really successful people who can do whatever they want said, 'Let's come together and be more powerful - let's take it to the tenth power?'"
Tyler and Oprah made a deal where Tyler's new TV shows would be shown on OWN, and his first couple of shows are titled 'The Haves and the Havenots' and 'Love Thy Neighbor'.
