The 86th Academy Awards took place on Sunday evening and, while the event was primarily about the Hollywood stars and, in particular, those who were up for awards and those who were victorious, there were also a lot of people watching Ellen DeGeneres to see how she would deal with the curse of the Oscar host, which has seen the three previous years considered a flop.
As it turned out, Ellen DeGeneres did a fantastic job at hosting the Oscars 2014, although there are some people who felt that she was a little too safe. In our opinion Ellen was a brilliant choice to host the 2014 Oscars and was a million times better than any of the hosts over the previous three years, showing them just how you are supposed to make being the Oscars host a success.
Prior to the success of Ellen DeGeneres, we had the uncharismatic pairing of James Franco and Anne Hathaway, followed by an out dated showing from Billy Crystal. Then came the worst ever Oscars hosting from Seth MacFarlane last year. It was nice to see a host taking the pressures of hosting the Oscars in their stride as Ellen DeGeneres did and, hopefully this will be the start of successful Oscar hosting for the next few years.
Talk has now turned to who will be the host of the Oscars 2015, with a few people suggesting that, since Ellen DeGeneres did such a good job, she could find herself being asked to return next year. With that said, it is unlikely that they will go for the same host two years in a row. Whoever is chosen to host the 2015 Oscars, they have a tough act to follow.
Who would you like to see hosting the 87th Academy Awards?
