The sequel to the hit comedy Zoolander could still be made but it is still being decided by Paramount whether to sanction the project or not. A script has been written and completed and is now in the hands of Paramount, however they are still stalling on the idea.
Ben Stiller revealed earlier in the year, “It’s kind of coming along slowly, we have a script that we like and we’re just waiting for the studio to figure it out. But I think we all want to do it. We’re raring to go, not quite sure where the studio’s at. Hopefully it’ll come together.”
He also gave a glimpse into Zoolander 2, “It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later. Though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way,” said Stiller.
Paramount had previously rejected a sequel to the Will Ferrell hit 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, claiming that the budget of the movie would be too high. However, early last month Will Ferrell admitted that is not completely out of the question. Whether a Zoolander 2 will be made remains to be seen but I for one hope that both sequels are made in the very near future.
