While it has been confirmed that Paranormal Activity 4 topped the box office this weekend, people are still considering it to be an unconvincing return from the franchise. This is because Paranormal Activity 4 made less on its opening weekend that Paranormal Activity 2 or 3.

However, with that said, Paranormal Activity 4 did make $30.2m in the US over the weekend and has already amassed around $25.6m overseas. With a budget believed to be around $5m, the return on the movie is already impressive and is only going to get bigger.
That is why it was a no brainer to go ahead with Paranormal Activity 5, although we did think that they would wait a while and find a way to progress the series. The Paranormal Activity movies make well over $100m a movie and the budgets are tiny in comparison, so Paranormal Activity 5 is bound to be a financial success.

While it has been confirmed that they are moving ahead with Paranormal Activity 5, there is still very little known about it. There is currently no writer or director attached and they have yet to decide on the cast. The one thing we do know is that Paranormal Activity 5 will hit the big screen on Halloween 2013.
