Patrice Evra is without question one of the most under appreciated players on the current Manchester United footballer squad and should not be replaced until his contract expires. He is an attacking threat from the left back position but what truly sets him apart is that he upholds his defensive responsibilities within a team that sometimes considers the word defence to be an expletive. His contract will be complete in 2015 at which time the team might consider replacing him but until that day comes they should be thankful they have him and not insult him with the signing of a player in his position during the January signing period.
This sterling French defender does not try to bring attention to himself on a team replete with alpha males. Instead, he performs his role consistently without hesitation. He torments opponents with his burst of speed on the left flank and forces them to attack Manchester United from the opposite flank because he is often too much to contend with.
The French World Cup team organisers think so highly of him that despite his inflammatory comments about past teammates he is still a first choice selection to the team. Oftentimes great players make the game of football look so easy you think they can be replaced easily. This is the mistake many manager make and it would be a huge error in judgement to think that Evra is a player who can easily be replaced on the United squad.
Manager David Moyes should consider himself fortunate that Evra is still with United because the team will find very few players who are the equal of him on the open market. Patrice Evra is the footballer you forget about because he is so dependable but whom you miss immensely when he is not playing for your squad.
