In Hollywood, the time it takes from the beginning of filming a movie, to the time it hits the big screen can often vary, with it generally taking between a few months and a couple of years. However, there is a movie being released later in the year that has been a staggering 12 years in the making and with good reason.

Patricia Arquette stars in the movie
Richard Linklater has written, directed and produced the upcoming movie Boyhood, after having a rather ambitious vision for the project. Richard has managed to get together a cast who were willing to dedicate plenty of time over the course of a 12 year period to making Boyhood become a reality. Boyhood started filming 12 years ago and has continued filming on and off with the same cast ever since, with the movie finally hitting the big screen this year.
The cast of Boyhood includes Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Ellar Coltrane and Lorelei Linklater, among many others, as you could imagine with a film taking place over a 12 year period. Boyhood follows the life of a five-year old boy named Mason, who literally grows up on the big screen, all the way until he turns 18. It is a very impressive piece of movie making and we cannot wait to see Boyhood in full.

Ethan Hawke is also in the film
Boyhood will hit the big screen on July 11 in both the US and the UK but, while we wait for the film to open, feel free to check out the new Boyhood trailer below, and let us know what you think about the project.
