Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder have become two of the hottest vampires on television, thanks to their performances in the hit The CW vampire series The Vampire Diaries. Now the two actors have been discussing their characters and what fans should expect in the future with TV Line.

Wesley explained, "The fans should definitely maintain some hope. The thing to remember is that Stefan and Elena (Nina Dobrev) have this love that is so strong, and it was sort of the core of season one - you can't entirely disregard that."
He added, "But I'm also not against it. I just feel like things have to happen naturally, and I don't want anything force-fed. I don't want the audience to get sick of any one relationship. Quite truthfully, I think they needed to break up - and I think eventually they'll need to get back together."

Ian Somerhalder then admitted that Damon and Stefan love each other, despite their differences. He saud, "They're the only two that know each other and understand each other. And at the end of the day they do love each other and they have to take care of each other."
The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursday nights at 8/7c on The CW.
