There was quite a lot of competition for the role of Jeff Buckley in the upcoming movie Greetings From Tim Buckley but it was eventually Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley who won the role. While there will be many disappointed actors, who missed out on the role, Penn certainly seems a very good choice.

Penn Badgley got into the music of Jeff Buckley when he was 17 years old and he has been a huge fan of Jeff ever since. Director Dan Algrant was close to giving up on the project, until he heard the audition by Penn Badgley, which forced him to push ahead with the film.
The performances of Penn Badgley as Jeff Buckley were so good that he did no lip syncing in the movie at all, performing live for the entire film. Now, a new clip of Penn Badgley, as Jeff Buckley, performing the track Once I Was has been released and it shows just how good a choice Penn was.

As well as starring Penn Badgley, Greetings From Tim Buckley also stars Imogen Poots, William Sadler and Ben Rosenfield.
