The career of Peter Dinklage has been a very interesting one and we have seen the talented actor land some interesting roles on both the big screen and the small screen over the past few years. One of the biggest roles that Peter has landed recently is the role of Tyrion Lannister in the hit HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile, Peter Dinklage will also appear on the big screen in the role of Dr. Bolivar Trask in the upcoming movie X-Men: Days of Future Past. With roles in two such huge projects, Peter has decided to touch on the two of them and compare how he sees them as being quite similar to one another.

Speaking of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dinklage explained, "I love Korean movies, because they’re never really tied down to their genre. Like a horror movie can be totally engaging and heartbreaking, but on the page it’s a horror movie. I feel [X-Men: Days of Future Past] does the same thing. Sure, it’s a summer blockbuster, with super heroes. People are flying around, creating storms and there are robots and there's all this crazy stuff going on, but then it has these intimate moments of complete internal character conflict that are so dramatic and gut-wrenching, that you rarely see in these types of films. And I say, why not combine the elements?  Because that’s how you’ll grab an audience. I don’t want to know what I’m watching. I want to be surprised."

Peter then went on to talk about how he sees Game of Thrones as being very similar, adding, "Game of Thrones does the same thing...I was shocked at the audience’s response to the death of Ned Stark. It speaks to what we’re used to from a narrative perspective: you don’t kill the hero. We sort of follow this recipe for these genre pieces. I was surprised by how surprised people were, I guess is my point. And I think that’s because we don’t challenge [the status quo] enough. We sort of serve the same recipe over and over again because it tastes good. There’s nothing wrong with it. But it gets a little boring after a while. Even if it goes down easy, sometimes things should be spicier."

Fans od Peter Dinklage can catch the actor in his role of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, which is now in its fourth season and continues to air in the US on HBO on Sunday evenings, while the show also continues to air in the UK on Sky Atlantic on Monday nights.

As for the movie X-Men: Days of Future Past, fans can see Peter Dinklage playing the role of Dr. Bolivar Trask when the film hits the big screen on May 22 in the UK, before it then opens in the US on May 23.
