Grammy night belonged to Daft Punk and Macklemore & Lewis and they were well deserving winners but many must wonder whether the Grammy judges are descendants of some of the masterminds behind the "Great Train Robbery" that took place many years ago because for rap artists Drake and Lamar not to receive one award is mind boggling.
Macklemore was so stunned at the outcome of Lamar not receiving a Grammy Award that he went on social media and had a phone-in interview to explain how he felt about the situation. Drake not winning an award has many of his Canadian fans in disbelief considering the fact that many consider his recent album "Nothing Was the Same" to be his best work and yet no award recognition.
The Grammy wins for Album of the Year for "Random Memories" and the song of the year "Get Lucky" that went to Daft Punk represent a comeback of sorts for superstar talent Pharrel Williams. For years he has been known as one of the most talented individuals in music but his career was on the precipice of disaster because of a serious drug addiction before he was able to get clean. For many musical artists there is always the fear about whether they will still be able to write and produce hit music when sober and these wins have likely reaffirmed in Pharrell that he can create great music sober.
The 2014 Grammy Awards may one day be recognized as the official rebirth of the sterling writing and producing career of Pharrell Williams and the emergence of Macklemore & Lewis as rap superstars who will likely be a major part of America's music scene for many years to come.
