When it was announced that Philip Seymour Hoffman has been cast in the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games franchise, the fans of the series were delighted to have such a talented actor on board. Philip gave a solid performance in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and we were looking forward to seeing more of him in the next movie.
Unfortunately though, Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away back in February this year, which left many to speculate as to how he would appear in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. Many suggested that they would use CGI to complete the missing scenes but director Francis Lawrence has insisted that, while he does want to have Philip in the scenes, it will most certainly not be in CGI form.
Lawrence was talking to thehungergamesexclusive.com, when he explained, "We finished the majority of his work. I think he might have had eight to 10 days left on our schedule. In most of those scenes, Phil didn't have any dialogue. We are going to put him into those scenes, but we're only using real footage. We're not creating anything digital or a robotic version of him."
There has also been suggestions that we could see some of the more important lines, that Philip Seymour Hoffman did not get to film, given to other characters in that scene. Whether or not this does actually happen remains to be seen.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 will see the return of the love triangle trio Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson, with the movie set to open on November 21.
