Taiwanese acting superstar Qi Shu, known to audiences worldwide for her role in the French action film "The Transporter" may soon once again be causing international filmmakers and viewers to ask the question of "who is that woman?" as a result of her performance in the movie "Assassin". In the movie she is faced with the ultimate conflict in trying to decide how to act when her job and personal life become intertwined.
She is a 9th century assassin who has a difficult choice to make when she is ordered to kill the man she loves and this sets off an inner conflict struggle. The role provides her the opportunity to show her immense dramatic range as this is the type of character that has multiple dimensions that can be shown.
The movie has not yet been released but those who have seen it, the "Wild Bunch" movie company, were so impressed that they purchased the distribution rights which is not a surprise considering that with her as the star of the movie it is almost a guarantee that fans will make time to see it.
She will also be seen in the comic fantasy "Journey to the West" as the film is on iTunes and will be available on DVD in late May 2014. In the film she again plays a mercenary who is fierce and vulnerable. She plays a fierce demon hunter paired with a nursery-rhyme singing demon hunter whom she eventually falls in love with despite their differences.
Qi Shu as an assassin in these two movies has some entertainment insiders wondering if her love for these physical, dramatic action adventure movies will potentially lead to her accepting an opportunity to play a similar role in a North American project and thus become a star both in Hollywood and Asia?
Qi Sui, superstar in both Asia and Hollywood? Don't be surprised if it happens in the future because she is one of the few actresses who possesses this potential.
