Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen have broken up, according to a new report from US Weekly. The report comes just on the heels of Michelle Williams and Jason Segel’s break up yesterday, reminding us that relationships in Hollywood almost always have an expiration date. Like Williams and Segel, it really seemed as if McAdams and Sheen were inseparable during their relationship, lasting more than two years.
Despite the ten year age gap [McAdams is 34 and Sheen is 44], they went public with their romance in 2010 after meeting on Woody Allen’s ‘Midnight in Paris’. They’ve been together happily since then, with not one word reaching the tabloids about any fight or discontent on either of their parts.
However, these things happen, as we too well know – even though McAdams had previously said, “Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart — we rack up a lot of air miles — but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not”, it didn’t do any good in the end.
There are also rumors that they broke up because Sheen was against marriage and McAdams wanted to get married. This make sense as Kate Beckinsale, Sheen’s ex, has previously gone on the record saying he was against marriage and didn’t want to marry her, even after the birth of their child. It might be a similar situation here, except for McAdams is moving on before she has children or gets more attached.
