English actress Rachel Weisz has played a lot of impressive characters over the years but she has singled out her role as Hester in The Deep Blue Sea as one of her favourites. Rachel claims that she loves to play those types of characters that end up falling apart.

Weisz told The Sun, “I suppose it's the way she falls in love. I believe she had no choice. I found something so fascinating about it when I read it in the script. That falling apart, I was drawn to it. As women, we're told, 'He's just not that into you', so you're not supposed to behave like that. You pull yourself together. But that wasn't possible for Hester. It's hopeless love.”
She added, “She's no dummy, and I think she could see the situation for what it was, but you don't choose who you fall in love with. It was her loss of control that interested me.”
