It was recently revealed how actress Rachel Weisz was joining actor Michael Fassbender in the cast of the movie The Light Between Oceans and it has now been confirmed that filming for the movie is preparing to go ahead. Rachel and Michael, along with the rest of the cast and crew, are set to begin work on The Light Between Oceans, which will start shooting next month in Australia and New Zealand.
Film New Zealand chief executive Gisella Carr explained to Variety, "The production coming here is the result of successful collaboration between a range of agencies including Marlborough District Council, Film Otago Southland and Film New Zealand working together with the producers."
For those of you wanting to know more, The Light Between Oceans has been officially described as, "set in the West Coast of Australia around WWI, the story centers on a lighthouse keeper and his wife and the moral consequences they must face when they find a 2-month-old girl and a dead body in a rowboat, and decide to raise the baby as their own. The blessing soon turns tragic and presumably rips the relationship apart."
While it has been confirmed that Michael Fassbender will play the role of the lighthouse keeper, while Rachel Weisz is playing the role of the baby's mother, it is also thought that Alicia Vikander will play the role of the lighthouse keeper's wife. The Light Between Oceans is directed by Derek Cianfrance and, with filming set to begin next month, the movie could be perfect as an awards season release.
