When an actor has been a part of a hugely successful television series for many years, people are often eager to see how this star will move on with their career once the series comes to an end. That has certainly been the case for actor Rainn Wilson, who played the role of Dwight Schrute in the hit television series The Office.
Now, Rainn Wilson is preparing for his brand new television series Backstrom, which is based on the book series of the same name and will see Rainn playing the role of Detective Everett Backstrom. It has now been confirmed that Rainn Wilson and co. will begin shooting the series in Vancouver towards the end of March and Rainn is very excited about the project.
Wilson explained, "I couldn’t be more thrilled to get a chance to dig into Detective Everett Backstrom. For an actor it’s rare to get a crack at a role of such intelligence, humor and complexity. He’s a delightfully disheveled misanthrope with a twisted, brilliant mind and a heart of barbed wire."
A pilot episode for Backstrom was filmed last March but CBS decided not to take the show to a full series. Fortunately though, Fox stepped in and agreed to give Backstrom a 13 episode first season. As well as starring Rainn Wilson, Backstrom also stars Dennis Haysbert and will air its first season on Fox later in the year.
