The beautiful and talented Rebecca Romijn has been working in the entertainment industry for many years now, enjoying plenty of success along the way. With so much experience and success to her name, it is fair to say that Rebecca is more than welcome to her opinion on how things are going, especially in the modelling industry.
Well, it seems that Rebecca Romijn has not been impressed with the rise of models such as Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, as she feels that these rising stars are only getting attention due to their social media followers. Rebecca does not believe that this will last for too long though, as she does not feel that they are "true supermodels".
Romijn explained to Entertainment Tonight, "No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translates to revenue. It is frustrating. I know a lot of people - legitimate fashion people - can’t stand it, hate it that these social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels."
She added, "I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way, not be a follower. I rely on Vogue to set the standard, not follow what everybody else is doing. So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards. It will change; fashion always does."
Unfortunately for Rebecca Romijn, times have changed a lot in recent years and having a big social media following does a lot for a celebrity. We expect to see even more models making a big name for themselves on social media, before then going on to land the big modelling jobs.
