The world legend is thrown around all too often these days and it does not seem that someone has to do too much before they get referred to as a legend anymore. However, when it comes to the late great Marilyn Monroe, then term legend fits perfectly, with Marilyn being one of the biggest global icons to ever walk the Earth, with people knowing her name all over the planet.
Unfortunately, Marilyn Monroe was one of those stars who saw her life come to an end far too early, but that does not mean that we have forgotten what a true talent she really was. Today (Monday, June 1) marks what would have been the 89th birthday of Marilyn Monroe and, to celebrate and remember what a true star she was, we have got some quotes from some of the biggest Hollywood stars today.
Blake Lively once said of Marilyn Monroe, "I have insecurities like any girl. I used to be really shy and unconfident. I hated being tall. Walking the red carpet is so scary, so I pretend to be Marilyn Monroe — someone who owned their sexuality and projected this incredible aura of self-confidence."
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan previously stated, "Sex and sexuality are a part of nature, and I go along with nature. I think Marilyn Monroe said that, and I agree with her. Knowing your body and being in touch with your body is important because it gives you confidence, and in life, women need confidence."
Michelle Williams played Marilyn Monroe on the big screen, ""I have always been drawn to Marilyn, but that doesn’t make me special in any way. She has that magnetism and that draw for so many people, so I read about her when I was young, devouring biographies. I’m most interested in her life before she became Marilyn. For me, the interest wasn’t so much in this larger-than-life personality," she said.
While Kate Upton had said, ""I always thought Marilyn was so beautiful and iconic, it was amazing to even be mentioned in the same sentence as her. But I feel like nowadays it's easy to be genuine and show your personality, whereas I don't think Marilyn had that opportunity. And clearly she had a dark side, and I don't have that."
With today marking the 89th birthday of Marilyn Monroe, it means we are just two months away from the anniversary of her death. Marilyn died on August 5, 1962 but she will remain forever in our hearts!
