British actor Rhys Ifans will appear on the big screen next year in the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise as Dr. Curt Connors aka The Lizard. Rhys has admitted that her feels for Curt Connors, as he is not your regular evil super villain but is actual has a good heart.
Ifans explained, "Curt Connors is, for my money, the quintessential foil for Spider-Man, in the sense that he isn't necessarily a villain as such. Dr Connors is a man who wants to save the world.” Rhys added that he finds the background of the character rather endearing.
Ifans continued, "He's a very good guy, with access to ground-breaking science, and he makes a mistake, which we all do in life at a certain point. I think that's the endearing and powerful element to Spider-Man and Curt Connors's relationship. It's completely Jekyll and Hyde."
Rhys Ifans is expected to portray the role of Catweazle in the Ettinger Brothers big screen adaptation of the 1970’s TV show. The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released in both the US and the UK on July 3, 2012.
