Looper director Rian Johnson admitted in the past that he would love to have a go at directing the Batman reboot but how does he feel about Star Wars: Episode VII. However, Rian admits that he is unlikely to be given the job, although he is not too worried about it, as he has plenty of his own material lined up.

Rian Johnson would direct Batman
Johnson was talking to Digital Spy when he explained, “I don't think I'm on those sorts of lists. On the one hand, it's Star Wars, it would be very hard to say no to. On the other hand, for me, I'm really enjoying just writing my own stuff, and right now that's what I'm doing.”
He added, “I'm writing another original screenplay now, and we'll figure out how to get it made. That's sort of what I'm in it for, is telling my own stories, and seeing if we can strike out on some new ground. So, luckily I don't think it's a problem that I'll have to deal with! It is sci-fi, but it's very different than Looper.”

Rian Johnson is unlikely to get the Star Wars gig
While Rian Johnson is one of the directors to actually admit that he would love to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, there have been a number of directors who have ruled themselves out, including Wes Anderson, Guillermo del Toro and J.J. Abrams, to name just a few.
