Star Wars Rian Johnson Director
Following the recent news that Star Trek Into Darkness has topped the US box office this weekend and the fact that the movie will no doubt go on to make a huge amount of money, it is pretty much a given that a third Star Trek movie will get made.
Duncan Jones could do a good job

Unfortunately, it seems that J.J. Abrams will not direct Star Trek 3, as he is going to find himself incredibly busy with Star Wars: Episode VII. He has yet to officially rule out returning to direct the next Star Trek film but it does seem highly unlikely, given the circumstances.

J.J. Abrams has already admitted that he, and his Bad Robot production company, will definitely be involved in producing Star Trek 3 but he seems doubtful to direct the film. So, who will direct the next Star Trek movie? Well there are plenty of extremely talented directors in Hollywood, so there will be no shortage to choose from.

Three names that we would love to see directing Star Trek 3 are Rian Johnson, who did a great job with Looper, Duncan Jones, although he will most likely be tied up with the World of Warcraft movie, and Josh Trank, yet he is likely to be busy with the Fantastic Four reboot.

Star Trek 3 has a planned release date for a 2016, so it could be sometime before we get any official word on who is directing Star Trek 3.
