It has been decades that fans have been calling for Ridley Scott to get his act together and pull his finger out and give us the Blade Runner sequel that we have all been dreaming of for so long. It now looks like we are finally going to get a Blade Runner 2 movie, with Harrison Ford returning to the role of Rick Deckard, although it was believed that Ridley Scott was not going to direct the film.
Ridley Scott has spoken about the project on many occasions over the past few years and it felt like he suggested that he was not going to direct Blade Runner 2 during an interview a few months back. However, Ridley has once again opened up about the project, admitting that he would find it very difficult to let another director take charge of something so close to his heart.
Scott was chatting to the guys over at Yahoo!, when he explained, "I don’t know about [not directing ‘Blade Runner 2’] yet. The script is very, very good. Very good. I wouldn’t know [what sort of director we’d want]. It’s a hard one to track because it’s a very personal piece of my work. [‘Blade Runner’] may be one of the most personal pieces I did. I got so beaten up for it, I said I’d never try that again. But here we are. It’s sitting there ready to be made."
We look forward to seeing whether Ridley Scott will direct Blade Runner 2 or who will replace him should he choose not to. We have no idea when we can actually expect to see Blade Runner 2 but we hope it is sooner rather than later. Watch this space!
