It will come as no surprise that 20th Century Fox have agreed to make a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, following the success of the movie. Rise of the Planet of the Apes surprised a lot of people with how good it was and even managed to rake in over $450million worldwide.
Now 20th Century Fox have signed up Andy Serkis to reprise his role of the leader of the apes, Caesar. Andy Serkis is being tipped for an Oscar nomination for the role and 20th Century Fox are going to wage a full campaign to help Andy become the first motion capture actor to win an Oscar.
Also expected to return for the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel is director Rupert Wyatt, who had an option to take on the sequel, written into his contract. The screenplay will once again be penned by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa but as of yet, they are still at the ideas stage. With this said, it could be a few years before the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel lands.
