There has already been a lot of discussion based around the sequel to the hit 2011 movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes, even thought writing for the sequel is still in the early stages. Many people have been questioning whether or not we will see more talking from the apes and the two people in charge of penning the sequel, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, have touched on the subject without giving too much away.
They explained, “We’re working on the sequel right now, to the prequel, and so the excitement is – I’m not gonna tell you, but – are they gonna talk or not? Part of the challenge was how to get across what was happening between the apes without words. In the end I think it was a good challenge for us. It created better storytelling.”
Rise of the Planet of the Apes did see the tiniest amount of speaking from one ape, Caesar, who was played so superbly by Andy Serkis, so it is likely that there will be more talking from the apes but the question is , how much? Andy Serkis has signed on to reprise his role as Caesar in the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel, as has director Rupert Wyatt. The Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel is expected to begin production later this year, with a 2014 release date.
