The Marvel Cinematic Universe is continuing to get bigger and better every year and, considering the fact that it is already enormous, it is surprising to think that there are still so many more new characters coming to the big screen in the coming years. However, it is the tried and tested characters that have become a lot of fans favourites over the recent years, including Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man.
While Robert Downey Jr's performances as Iron Man have become very popular with Marvel fans, the actor himself has pointed to another star as his favourite. During a recent Q&A with Variety, Robert spoke out to praise the performances of Chris Evans as Captain America, admitting that he was a huge fan and could not wait to see the new movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Downey Jr told Variety, "There was so much riding on (playing the part of) what essentially could be considered the squarest superhero in history. It was probably the most risky of the franchises we launched. I say ‘we,’ like I’m a company man, which I like to think I am. By the way, I’m a fan of his. I’m not kidding. I’m having 50 kids over and I’m screening Captain America 2 on my birthday, which happens to be the day it opens. I haven’t seen it. That’s one of the perks of being on the inside track at Marvel. I hope it’s not watermarked too heavily."
Robert Downey Jr does not have too much longer to wait, as Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in the US on April 4, although the film will hit the big screen earlier in the UK, landing on March 26. Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans will re-team for the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will open on May 1, 2015 in both the US and the UK.
