It has been reported that Hollywood actors and close friends, Robert Pattinson and Tom Sturridge both auditioned for the part of Jeff Buckley in the movie Greetings from Tim Buckley. However, both were unsuccessful as the part eventually went to John Tucker Must Die actor Penn Badgley.
Greetings from Tim Buckley will be directed by Daniel Algrant, who was also involved with the writing process of the movie. The film is based on the true story of Jeff Buckley during the days leading up to his 1991 Tim Buckley tribute performance at St. Ann’s Church, which launched his career.
Robert Pattinson was said to be bitterly disappointed at losing out on the role, “Rob did try out to play Jeff for Greetings from Tim Buckley. He was upset he didn’t get the part,” explained a source. However, it is believed that RPatz is still interested in playing some part in the movie.
