Talented French actor Romain Duris got the attention of Hollywood studio executives, filmmakers, producers, directors and casting agents when he disclosed that he is very interested in performing in a an Hollywood project but only if the part is similar in substance and quality to those which he plays in France.
Following a promotional tour for two movies, "Chinese Puzzle" and "Mood Indigo" that included stops in Los Angeles, Paris and London he sat down and discussed the movies and also that he is not averse to acting in Hollywood but he is not so desperate for the opportunity that he is going to accept a minor role as a lover or small criminal.
His movie "Chinese Puzzle" he describes as a "mixture of comedy with intimacy which will cause an audience to look back and think about what happened in the movie". It is a based on the complex life of his character, Xavier Rousseau who while going through a divorce ends up moving to New York to be close to his 2 children that he had with his legal wife. In the movie he ends up living for a time with an old friend and her partner who happens to be pregnant with his child and just to keep things from becoming normal in his life his girlfriend from France constantly flies in to visit. The movie is a comedy similar to that of a Woody Allen movie.
The movie "Mood Indigo" is a bizarre love story. What the two movies do illustrate about Romain Duris is that they provide him the opportunity to truly show the different range of emotions that his character must deal with the navigate his situation and he wants a similar 'meaty' role in an Hollywood project.
Romain Duris is ready to come to Hollywood and possesses the dramatic tools to make a movie a success but he is only coming on his terms and not to play a lesser role than those that he is given the opportunity to play in European films that have allowed him to establish himself as an actor.
