Ron Howard’s over ambitious Dark Tower project rejected by Universal

It seemed to us that the attempt to bring Stephen King's The Dark Tower novels to life was doomed from the start, just because of the complexity of the project. Ron Howard wanted to develop the book into three movies and two TV seasons, which is a big ask from the off.

Taking a TV series and turning it into a movie is a tried and tested method but to keep switching between the two is a big ask of the audience to keep dividing their time between them. A TV series, with a movie at the end would have made much more sense or even just a seven season TV series (there are seven novels in the series) a season for each book.
However, Ron Howard seems determined to do it his way and although Universal have rejected the idea, I am sure he will continue to pitch it to other studios. It will be interesting to see if anybody else does pick up The Dark Tower but for now it is officially dead.
