When you get to the top of your game in your chosen sport, it does not take long for people to start comparing you to the other top players in that sport. People will compare you with the greatest players around at the time, as well as comparing you to the greatest players to ever play the game. Then there are those who compare you to the top players in the wold from other sports.
That is exactly what has been happening to Irish golf star Rory McIlroy, who has been compared to the golfing greats like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, while he has also been compared with basketball star LeBron James and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. Rory has now opened up about the comparisons admitting that, while it took a while to come to terms with, he is now happy to be put alongside such greats.
McIlroy explained, "I'm not uncomfortable with the position. Did it take me a while to come to terms with it? Yes, because it's not something you ever thought starting out your career you were going to have to deal with or handle. If you're in that position, then you're one of the top players in your sport. I'm certainly not at their level in terms of in their sports, but I'm working and trying to get there."
Rory McIlroy is currently preparing for the upcoming major The Masters 2014, which will take place at Augusta from Thursday, April 10 until Sunday April 13. Adam Scott goes into this years Masters as the favourite but there is no denying that Rory McIlroy could be in with a shout.
