British funnyman Russell Brand is enjoying the heights of fame as a Hollywood movie star but there was once a time when he came close to death. Russell was a drink and drug addict and has revealed how he was given just six months to live, before being saved by Focus.

Russell Brand had six months to live
Brand was talking to The Sun's TV magazine, when he said, "If it wasn't for their treatment programme of education and abstinence, I'd be in prison or a lunatic asylum... or dead. When Chip Somers [Chief Executive of Focus] told me I had six months to live, it sounded melodramatic - but I was getting arrested two or three times a month."
He added, “I was getting beaten up and got into silly fights. I was hurting myself. I was in and out of hospital.I was losing work. It's not a popular cause, addiction, ‘cause the people that have it are bloody irritating. But the message is if you want to stop drinking and taking drugs, you can. If you don't need to, don't. It's not a moral thing."
