Following the huge success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems that everyone is trying to find a similar way to bring together a number of different projects and make their own, long-lasting and successful movie universe. One of the most interesting of them all would have to be the plans that Universal have for the Monster Movie Universe, which seems to be coming together nicely.
We already know that Tom Cruise is going to lead the way in the upcoming reboot of The Mummy, while we are also going to get to see Johnny Depp taking on the lead role in The Invisible Man. As well as that, there have been rumours about Angelina Jolie joining the universe as the Bride of Frankenstein, and now it seems that there is another character on the verge of being cast.
According to the recent reports, Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe is in talks to play the role of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in the Universal Monster Movie Universe. It has been claimed that the character will make a brief appearance in The Mummy remake, which will set up for his very own solo movie, and get the ball really rolling.
At this stage though, it is thought that it is very early days in the talks to cast Russell Crowe as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, so this is far from a done deal yet. If Russell does not sign on to the project, it will be interesting to see who does finally land the role. Watch this space!
