After months of speculation and rumors, Sam Claflin has finally been confirmed for Finnick Odair by Lionsgate, for the Hunger Games sequel 'Catching Fire'. Finnick Odair is described in the books as having tan skin, bronze colored hair, and incredible sea green eyes. While Claflin is certainly attractive, he doesn't nearly fit that description. Of course, they would be looking for acting ability more than looks (as they've consistently when casting these movies), and Claflin definitely has plenty of skill.
Claflin broke out in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and has since gone on to star in the successful 'Snow White and the Huntsman' as the Prince. The role of Finnick is definitely a coup for him and his team, as it will expose him to a huge fanbase and establish him into a bona fida star (as long as he doesn't screw up the performance).

Claflin has also had a role in the hugely popular television series 'Pillars of the Earth', and is a 26-year-old actor from England. His family has no connection to showbusiness and he managed to get into it by going to acting school in England, and then landing a terrific agent right out of school.
Catching Fire is set to release November, 2013, and will be directed by Francis Lawrence.
