As always, there were quite a few moans from the fans of The Hunger Games books, when it was revealed that Sam Claflin had been cast in the role of Finnick Odair for the movie sequel Catching Fire. It is pretty much impossible to please everyone when casting and this was again proved here.
A lot of the fans of the Suzanne Collins novels made a big push to get their favourite stars cast and two of the top choices from fans were The Cabin in the Woods star Jesse Williams to Glee actor Grant Gustin. However, Sam managed to beat both of them to the role.
Fortunately for Sam Claflin, he already has the green eyes and dimples that Finnick has but he did have to dye his hair for the part and go on a diet of chicken and asparagus, which he was not too happy about. He explained, “It’s depressing…I just want a burger and beer.”
As well as starring Sam Claflin, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will also see the return of Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is directed by Francis Lawrence and is set to be released on November 22 in both the US and the UK
